Lucas Place Lofts is one of the historic buildings in the Garment District of Downtown Kansas City. It was built in
1910. The building was used for decades to make a range of textile and rubber products, before being renovated in 1980 to house offices. The work consisted of converting an existing nine story building to make room for 130 loft apartments and several ground-level retail units. The atrium lobby, community rooms and tenant storage are located in the lower level. The design incorporated keeping some of the existing atrium columns, and wood floor/beam construction in place to preserve its original charm.
